The history of contemporary art begins around 1950 when a group of artists in Europe attempted to overcome the traumas of war through art. Post-war artists felt a need for renewal and a burning desire to define a new identity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Contemporary artists working within the postmodern<\/b> movement reject the concept of mainstream art and embrace the notion of “artistic pluralism,” the acceptance of a variety of artistic intentions and styles. Working in a wide range of mediums<\/b>, contemporary artists often reflect and comment on modern-day society.<\/span><\/p>\n

From illustrators to paper artists, photographers to installation artists, just what do the creative minds behind today’s most stimulating contemporary art feel is the key to great art? <\/span><\/p>\n

Today’s artists work in and respond to a global environment that is culturally diverse, technologically advancing, and multifaceted. <\/span>Originality, representational of the time when it was created, passion, a frame of reference, freshness, intellectual content, and is uniquely identifiable as the work of that particular artist. <\/span><\/p>\n

There are multiple elements that put together form beautiful art<\/span><\/a> in the viewer’s eyes, and finding out why makes up the journey. The elements may be diverse as memories, experiences, the story of the work, of the artist, his life, colours, weather, mood etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

Often people are not willing to take the time and effort to develop their own personal sensibilities through study or reflection but are prone to “go with the flow” from the “tastemakers” so as not to be seen as square and out of touch… so sad…<\/span><\/p>\n

A good contemporary art  has to be something that engages you, <\/span>an artwork that challenges you and then makes you think about it days later or one that seduces you and delivers pleasant feelings days later. As a collector, you will know it when you see it.
